Doctor of Holistic Medicine
Deborah Ginsburg, MDDeborah Ginsburg, MD is a Family Doctor, board certified both in Family Medicine and in Integrative Holistic Medicine.
Being an "integrative physician" means she is trained to integrate the best parts of conventional medicine and alternative healing modalities to find an elevated, holistic approach. A focus of her practice is to raise the level of the health of a patients so that they're more fit, more vibrant, with a stronger immune system, better every-day energy, and fewer illnesses.
As a Family Doctor, she is the primary physician for women, men, and children.
She also provides specialized medicine for people with special needs, such as around issues of in diet and nutrition, allergies, diabetes, immune system weakness, ADD/ADHD, autism, bowel and gut issues, general family stresses, inflammation, and the cycle of disease in which many people never actually become fully well.
Dr. Ginsburg prioritizes nutrition, healing foods, and lifestyle medicine as cornerstones of a vibrant life. She pays attention to herbal therapies, homeopathy, and other modalities that can contribute to wise treatment.
As part of caring for patients, she connects them to a network of extraordinary practitioners in both conventional and alternative health care specialties, which she coordinates. This care can include acupuncture, chiropractic, psychotherapy, homeopathy, and osteopathy, and other therapies, as well as the new frontier of functional testing.
Her style is collaborative. Patient visits take place in a relaxed, unhurried environment with ample time for questions and dialog. She welcomes patient's input regarding what may be causing symptoms, plans with the patient the best option a healing course.
In addition, she is available on a consulting basis for people who have another physician, and want the opinion of a holistic physician.
Women's and Pediatric Care:Dr. Ginsburg also specializes in holistic care of women and children.
She loves helping parents prepare for birth, providing breastfeeding support to new moms, and taking care of kids and families. She has delivered many babies herself, though she is not doing it at this time. She is ardent in her support of breastfeeding, and firm in her belief, that it is a family's right to choose how much their child is vaccinated.
In its yearly survey of the most popular "Kids' Doctors", New Jersey Monthly magazine recognized Dr. Ginsburg in three of the past four years.
Career History:Growing up, Dr. Ginsburg lived in New Jersey as well in India for two years.
She graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 1986 majoring in Biology, and from the UCLA School of Medicine in 1992.
In 1993 she completed a three year Family Medicine residency at Glendale Adventist Medical Center in Glendale California.
From 1995 to 1997 she practiced Family Medicine with Obstetrics at Franklin Family Practice, Somerset, NJ.
In 1997 she took a position as a Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at UMDNJ, RWJ Medical School, supervising doctors in training for certification as Family Doctors. During this time she continued her own practice of Family Medicine with Obstetrics.
In October 2007 she became certified in Integrative and Holistic Medicine.
In September 2011 she founded Healing Oceans Family Wellness Center.
Currently, she is school physician for the Waldorf School of Princeton, and is a member of the AAFP (American Academy of Family Physicians), the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine, the IFM (Institute for Functional Medicine), the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, and the Ideal Medical Practice community.
Dr. Ginsburg lives in Montgomery, NJ with her husband David and son Isaiah, who was born at home in 2001.
When she is not tending to her patients and Healing Oceans, Dr. Ginsburg can be found enjoying nature and the outdoors, reading a wide range of books and medical articles, spending time with friends and family, and preparing nutritious meals. And of course, if an opportunity arises for a dip in the healing ocean, she's already on her way.
